We started today around 9:30 AM due to a bit of sleeping in. We were determined to find some yummy breakfast and we nailed it! We ate at a little place called Sandwich Street Kitchen. The food was fantastic and the sausage was absolutely amazing.

Our first big activity after breakfast was the famous British Museum. The museum is free to enter but you should get a timeslot ticket to allow entry. During the walk over to the museum, Andre decided he was going to do A Big Year. He has already documented three birds: a crow, pigeon, and seagull. The museum was quite interesting. The item I was most looking forward to was not on display. It is the Olduvai stone. This is believed to be 2,000,000 years old and a tool the was created by the very first humans.

The British have done a very good job of collecting items throughout the world. It’s almost like they conquered a bunch of territories and took their stuff. I wonder if the Greeks would like to have pieces of their Parthenon back? I kid, I kid………….
The Rosetta Stone was very cool to see in person. I was pleased that it wasn’t a replica as many of the items in the museum are. Andre seemed to love the museum. He took so many pictures and made sure we went to every level of the place. He was particularly interested in all of the gold.
We downloaded the walking tour app and were able to do simple self-guided tours. We originally were going to do these scavenger hunts but Andre said he just wanted to walk around and look at stuff. I feel like we went into every open room.

Next we hopped on the elusive Big Red Bus. This was difficult to find as the stops by our place only came once every 30-60 minutes. However, once we got on, it was perfect! We saw a ton. The hop-on-hop-off busses are something we prefer to do every time we get to a new city. It allows you to learn a bit about the area, become oriented and learn which items you definitely want to see. We have been doing it for years. We know its super touristy but we find it very efficient and effective.

We ended the day with some amazing Mediterranean food at an establishment called Mielo in Paddington. I am shocked by the food in London this time around. The last time I was in London, I was in college and had NO MONEY of any kind. I had concluded that the food was terrible here but I think I just couldn’t afford the good stuff. France on the other hand had great food for a poor college student. I love me some street baguettes. Here are some pics of our dinner tonight:

Since we 100% know our way around London due to our 2.5 hours on a bus, we let Owen pick a dessert restaurant and lead the way! He Google Mapped dessert shops around us and selected one. He then led the way without our knowledge of where we were going. Where do you think he led us to?
